Climatology

A region’s climatology is comprised of atmospheric interactions and weather patterns over an extended period of time, typically 30 or more years. The climatology figures here display the annual fluctuations in temperature and precipitation that define Virginia’s climate. Hot, wet summers are followed by cool, relatively dry winters. However, the Commonwealth contains six different climate regions in which these average conditions can vary due factors such as elevation.

VCC has extrapolated data from weather stations across these climate regions to provide you with localized climatology.
